The Vice President of The United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Philip Mpango, has congratulated the International Military Sports Council (CISM) for choosing Tanzania to host the 79 CISM General Assembly and Congress.

Doctor Mpango emphasized to the members that the Council exists to build peace and love among member countries, where he encouraged CISM to continue preaching Peace and Love through sports. 

The Minister of Defence and National Service Hon. Dr. Stergomena Tax , said that  the 79th General Assembly and Congress will bring together members, share capabilities and build harmony through sports. 

She also congratulated the Chief of Defence Forces General Jacob John Mkunda for the preparation and holding of the historic meeting.

The Chief of Defense Forces General Jacob John Mkunda said that the CISM General Assembly and Congress brings productivity and various opportunities in the country due to the presence of participants from various countries.

The 79 CISM General Assembly and Congress is being held in the country for the second time, after 1991 in May, Tanzania hosted the CISM General Assembly which was held at Arusha.

Members of the conference will have the opportunity to visit various tourist attractions in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

The 79 CISM General Assembly and Congress has officially opened on May 14, 2024 and will end on May 19, 2023.
